Cordoba Classic Tour

Highlights / General details
The Great Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba is a mixture of architectural styles superimposed on one another over the nine centuries its construction and renovations lasted. Standing in the historic center, it is one of the most beautiful examples of Muslim art in Spain, built in 785 by the Muslim emir Abdurrahman I on the site of the ancient Visigoth church of San Vicente.

The Jewish quarter is a complex network of little streets with a typical Andalusian flavor. The Synagogue, one of Spain’s best preserved, is located in the centre of this traditional neighborhood. A Mudejar-style 14th century building, was used as a temple until the Jews expulsion in 1492.
The neighborhood, also home to the statue in honor of the Jewish philosopher Maimónides, was an intellectual stronghold in the time of Abderramán III (891 – 961 A.D.).
