Glide through Venice’s prettiest canals and out into the Venetian lagoon as you learn how to be a Gondolier! This is an easy, relaxing learning experience with a maximum of just four adults per vessel. Enjoy great vistas of Venice from this unique vantage point. Our expert instructor will reveal the secrets behind the unique profession of being a gondolier. Hear fascinating stories and exclusive insights about this exclusive profession. Try your hand at rowing or just sit back and soak up the views on this most unique gondolier experience in Venice.
Including great vistas and an easy, relaxing learning experience with a maximum of six people per group. Starting with some on-land demonstration to get your balance right, we then give you a gentle start as you enjoy a row along a canal, taking in the spectacular views along the water way to the marina. Here, you will have room to learn to steer the ancient and rare training vessel, a ‘gondoletto’. Much more stable than a traditional gondola, it was specially-designed to train Gondoliers in this ancient art.
You then return along the canal to the marina for the conclusion of this most unique experience in Venice! All the while, your expert guide will reveal the fascinating history of this ancient tradition.

Location
Meeting Point: The wooden gate by the bridge Ponte de la Sacca at the Sacca Misericordia boat marina. This is on the Fondamenta Gaspari Contarini, just down from the Madonna dell'Orto church as noted in the directions above. Please do not enter the marina.

This activity takes place in a quiet location on the north side of Venice where you may learn to row in peaceful surroundings. Please review directions carefully as it can take some preparation to understand how to best arrive (in a city that is confusing by nature, even for locals). Make sure you allow enough time to traverse the city so as to arrive a few minutes before your appointment. There will likely be another lesson following yours, so we want to make sure you get the benefit of your entire lesson.
