Teotihuacan and Guadalupe Shrine Tour

Highlights / General details
A professional guide will accompany you on a journey through the history of Mexico's pre-hispanic, colonial and modern times.

Our tour begins at Tlatelolco, today the largest archaeological site in Mexico City, which once formed part of the capital of the Aztec empire. Here was the biggest market of that empire, and here's where the consumation of the Conquest took place. Right there lies the Square of the Three Cultures, where the prehispanic, colonial and present of Mexico get together.

The city of Tlatelolco was once connected to the North by a wide avenue leading to the hill of Tepeyac, where the Aztecs worshiped Tonantzin, today better known as Our Lady of Guadalupe, precisely where we will make our next stop. Known today as ""La Villa"" or the Basilica of Guadalupe, this is the most important religious building in all of Mexico, and one of the most visited places in the Catholic world, which annually receives more than twenty million pilgrims.

After the Basilica of Guadalupe in Mexico City, the journey continues to Teotihuacan, "City of the Gods", which is northeast of Mexico City. On the way you'll see the organized chaos on the suburbs of the city. Once in the Teotihuacan Valley you'll make a quick stop to recharge batteries with tastings of Tequila and other local spirits, Besides, you will also learn about the importance of obsidian for Teotihuacan ancient and modern economy.

If you wish, you can have lunch here (on your own expense). Next, you'll head to the site of Teotihuacan, where the guide will tell you all about the history of Teotihuacan, its mysteries, its development, its grandeur, its importance and its fall. You'll have free time for climbing the Pyramids and walking through the famous "Avenue of the Dead".
